I spooked myself and it is spring

March 18, 2026

I managed to take a long hiatus from these blog posts. My last one was around Halloween.

The news cycle is so fast, so many things are happening, and most of them are bad; it is really a necessity now (for me) to escape.

  • I read a Substack post every morning. Just one. While I drink my coffee. Instagram is back on my phone, but tbh I don´t feel I want to open the app. It just doesn´t give me anything. I never felt like I could lose hours on that app, but nowadays, even after a minute, I ask myself, what am I doing. I never really cared about the stuff people post; really, I don´t need to know everything, but now I care even less.
  • I listen to more audiobooks. Again, I don´t have the patience to listen to a lot of episodes. I am happy to have a new episode of The Rest is Politics and Pod Save the World in my pod download stash, but other than that, I listen to audiobooks or silence. There is more flow to be met in silence than in any other noise.

  • I took a walking break because the long winter was just extra cold. I resumed. I don´t have time every day, but I try to visit the woods a couple of times a week. But, you guessed it, even that feels like a choir. I just don´t feel it.
  • My husband and I started rewatching Friends, and wow, such a good break for my mind. Also, on Sunday´s a James Bond movie, after finishing Mission Impossible ones. I know, I know, I love a good action movie. Though never a Tom Cruise fan, I liked the movies. Oh well.

  • Also baking. I´ve been baking every weekend. Not too healthy a thing to do, but I love to lose myself for a couple of hours in the process. I try to do everything by hand, so I can make the process last longer. It is so refreshing, and disconnects my mind from reality.
  • Reading: still reading a book about Frida Kahlo´s life. I read other books as well, but this is my evening read (I don´t last long - not the fault of the book)
